Supplements That INTERFERE With Levothyroxine (& other thyroid medication)
Over 100 million people will fill a prescription for levothyroxine this year and most of them have no idea how many different things interfere with its function.
This includes food, medications, and, yes, even supplements.
Which is why I put together a list of supplements that can cause problems with thyroid medication. Are you taking any?
1. Biotin
- Biotin interferes with the ACCURACY of thyroid medication and levothyroxine.
2. Caffeine
- Caffeine decreases the absorption of your thyroid medication.
3. Iron and calcium
- Both iron and calcium bind to and inactivate levothyroxine and other thyroid medications.
4. Glucomannan and other fiber supplements
- Glucomannan and fiber supplements del...

The Low Magnesium Low Thyroid Connection (PROTECT Your Thyroid)
Просмотров 6 тыс.День назад
Magnesium is incredibly important for thyroid function and, unfortunately, most thyroid patients aren't getting enough. This is for 3 main reasons: 1. Thyroid dysfunction increases magnesium breakdown and excretion. In other words, thyroid problems promote the elimination of magnesium from your body. 2. Stress increases magnesium usage. Because thyroid dysfunction makes you more susceptible to ...
Drink Fruit Juice For Better Thyroid Health (Here's Why)
Просмотров 7 тыс.День назад
Is fruit juice worse than soda or is it actually healthy for your body and thyroid? I'm going to argue that every thyroid patient should drink it and here's why: 1. Drinking it does NOT cause weight gain. Study after study show that drinking more fruit juice is associated with a leaner BMI. 2. Drinking it will NOT cause diabetes or insulin resistance. Meta-analyses show that 100% fruit juice co...
Dihydroberberine vs Berberine: Which is BEST For Weight Loss?
Просмотров 14 тыс.14 дней назад
Berberine is a great over-the-counter supplement known for its benefits on weight loss, insulin, blood sugar, and even cholesterol. But if you spend some time looking around, you'll notice that there's a new formulation available: dihydroberberine. The formulation that most people use is known as berberine hcl, so how does this new form compare? In short, it's probably better for these reasons:...
These Hypothyroid Supplements Will Help You Feel Better
Просмотров 12 тыс.21 день назад
Do hypothyroid support supplements work? Absolutely, but only if you use the right ones. In my opinion, and based on my experience, here are the ones hypothyroid patients should be using: 1. Guggulsterone Guggulsterone has been shown in animal studies to promote thyroid hormone creation and iodine uptake thereby supporting the thyroid gland. It also happens to help with symptoms associated with...
The WRONG Way to Measure Thyroid Weight Loss
Просмотров 4,5 тыс.28 дней назад
Using a scale is one of the biggest mistakes you can make as a thyroid patient trying to lose weight. Why? Because it doesn't accurately tell you how much fat you are losing or how much muscle you are gaining. And, for thyroid patients, this is a big problem because you should be trying to preserve muscle mass when you lose weight. How can you accurately measure fat loss? By using these metrics...
Thyroid Belly Shape Explained (Get Rid of it FAST)
Просмотров 161 тыс.Месяц назад
What is a thyroid belly? It's the characteristic shape of the abdomen that many patients with hypothyroidism end up with and it's caused by 4 things: 1. Visceral fat. Visceral fat is the fat that surrounds your organs. Thyroid dysfunction increases your risk for developing this type of fat. The more you have of it, the more it will push outward and cause a thyroid belly. 2. Subcutaneous fat. Su...

I am sorry to tell you I have also apparently regrown my Thyroid. Mine was removed 40 years ago also for Cancer, but I grew it back in about 6/7 years😁. I also have the same issue every damn year. Last year however they decided my Cancer was back because of the results? Finding a good Endocrinologist is hard getting an appointment with one Unbelievably Hard.

I had my thyroid removed 30 years ago. My doctor told me it was very important to take my medication and to eat a balanced diet and exercise because my metabolic rate will be slower. I have had occasions in my past when I have put on weight but tackled this with cutting carbs and sugar which is normally my downfall. Going through the menopause I gained weight and was told to cut down carbs as the hormones I wasn’t producing anymore were not there to help break down the carbs. So to say thyroid is the cause of belly fat is not true. It’s down to lack of exercise and diet. If you have a thyroid problem get the right meds.

I have been taking synthroid for 20 years after I had a goiter the Dr. gave me the radiation pill. Once they got the medication down to 50 mcg that’s what I’ve bee taking all this time. I’m 71 with gray hair which is thin at the back of the crown, my hands do hurt and have for years and I do have hot flashes. Otherwise I feel good still work, walk everyday I’m able. I have a lot energy most of the time. I’ve never asked the Dr if I could lower my dose because I felt like it would mess things up. 😊

Almonds should not be eaten by people that are hypothyroid. They have goitrogens and everybody that is on keto low-carb is eating almond flour for all their baking. I started doing keto and it helped my hypothyroidism tremendously. My TSH numbers started going down, but I had to eliminate almond flour.

I’m 59, female, and starting second month of phentermine. I’ve dropped 19 lbs in 4 weeks. It has helped with appetite but I’m noticing it doesn’t last after 5, 6 hours like it did. I asked the clinic how long I can stay on it and was told, “You can stay on it as long as you need. You can stop it when you hit your target weight…or not. It’s up to you.” Okay, I have a medical background so I KNOW what I was told isn’t right. They leave it up to the PATIENT! So, I have made an appointment to see the ‘doctor’ (It’s actually a NP) after this second month. I also asked if it needs increased (to see what the MA tells me) and she said yes, I can still go up in dose! NOT ONE TIME HAVE I BEEN TOLD ABOUT ADDICTION to it, that I might have withdrawal when I decide to stop it, or anything. Honestly, I think the place I’m going to is in it for the money only……

Please can someone help me? I have had burning, tingling feet for almost three years now, diagnosed as bilateral tarsal tunnel. The only thing in my blood work is a very low T3. It was around 3.9 but has crept down to 1.8, since fasting and doing the carnivore diet. Tarsal tunnel is my only symptom, so when I have tried armour or T3 on its own, I feel like a nutcase as its more energy on top of the good energy I already have. I dont know what im missing

I have a medication that I have to take in the morning and again at night. Rn I take my thyroid med in the morning, wait an hour then take my other med and have breakfast. If I flip it to night time, do I do the same? Take it, wait an hour and then make my other meds? Figuring this out is not easy. Plus I sometimes snack on something right before bed, so that’s tricky. 😢 Edit, plus come to think of it, if my hormone levels improve they’ll just lower my dose next time. So I’m f’d either way. 🙁

I had to start taking my thyroid medication because I would get some side effects like dizziness and heart palpitations within an hour or so of taking it, so I began a night routine of taking it before bedtime. I would be asleep or resting when I had those side effects, not at the start of my day and often at work when the side effects would hit, which I would then have to sit down. In a physically demanding job, this is not good, especially with your boss. Now, here is evidence it's better for hormone absorption if taken at night
